Postcolonial Methodologies In The Study Of English Literature
Abstract
This article provides a comprehensive examination of postcolonialism as a critical theoretical framework within English literature, aiming to elucidate its role in analyzing the multifaceted impacts of colonialism on both the colonized societies and the colonizers themselves. It explores the central themes commonly addressed in postcolonial literary works, including identity formation, hybridity, resistance, displacement, and the deconstruction of colonial narratives. Furthermore, the article investigates the contributions of seminal postcolonial authors and theorists whose works have significantly influenced the trajectory of English literary studies. By highlighting the transformative effects of postcolonial discourse on literary narratives, the study underscores how this critical approach challenges Eurocentric perspectives, reclaims marginalized voices, and reshapes understandings of history, culture, and power relations within the postcolonial context.
